Data Mining in Educational Settings

Rabab Naqvi

Abstract

Educational mining is an evolving trend in research capacity that
deals with the growth of tools and techniques to discover hidden
pattern lying in the data in an educational context. Mining is helping
all the educational stakeholders working in different lines of
education. It is helping administrators to manage resources effectively
and faculty to analyze students’ performance, their learning behavior,
and to predict their future path. Problem definition, data gathering
and preparation, model building and evaluation, and knowledge
development are the four steps typically involve in educational
mining.
